PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES


Sailing Program Director
(Summer 2018 - Full Time Seasonal Position)

  • Essential Functions
    The Program Director will run and manage the daily operations of the sailing school. He/she will manage all youth and adult sailing programs including regularly scheduled programs and private lessons. He/she will be responsible for maintaining all sailing equipment.
  • Job Requirements
    US Sailing Level 1 (2 or 3 preferred)
    Sailing/coaching experience and strong background in youth or collegiate sailing programs
    Current CPR and First Aid Certificates. Ideally, also a valid Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Certification.
    Commitment to safety
    Passionate about sailing, teaching and working with kids
    Responsible, reliable and self-motivated
  • Additional Responsibilities
    Manage the Bay Harbor Yacht Club sailing program
    Supervise and instruct the BHYC sailing staff. Seek, interview, and hire additional sailing staff when necessary.
    Communicate with Aquatics Director and members regularly
    Coordinate with Aquatics Director maintenance of sails, boats and docks to keep members and guest safe during usage
    Keeps boats up to date and clean for proper usage
    Informs participants on proper rules of the water and maintains safe sailing practices
    Teaches all basic and relevant sailing procedures
    May assist and organize trips to regattas and excursions
    Maintain all files, forms, and curricula for the continuity of the program
    Communicate and coordinate activities, goals, and schedules, to sailing members and appropriate parties

Sports Desk Attendant
(Summer 2018 - Full Time Seasonal Position)

  • Essential Functions
    Operate telephone; relay messages to personnel; greet members and guests; take reservations; sell merchandise and perform inventory of merchandise.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    Answers telephone; transfers calls to proper extensions; takes messages for staff, members, and guests
    Greet members and guests
    Provides schedule and other club information to members and guests
    Arranges and maintains member charge records
    Monitors fitness room and wipes down machines throughout the day
    Bills members accounts for purchases and programs
    Maintains supply of club information for members
    Fulfill guests’ requests (i.e. places phone calls, holds, letters or packages, etc.)
    Performs on-site errands
    Performs general office work such as word processing, filing
    Reports unauthorized people in Club facility or around facility
    Maintains supply merchandise inventory
    Operate front desk/lobby/other areas
    Check and maintain Sports Desk e-mails and voicemails throughout the day
    Manage lost and found
    Helps to manage locker rooms
    Sell merchandise and other Sports Desk products
    Performs other duties required by Programs and Activities Director
