As we reach the end of November, Northern Michigan is on the cusp of winter, with the promise of snow just around the corner. While the boats are docked for the season and the Great Lakes rest under a chilly sky, we find ourselves reflecting on the incredible adventures of the 2024 boating season. At Bay Harbor Yacht Club, the memories of summer still shine brightly, warming us as we transition into the festive months ahead.
2024 Cruise Club Recap
This past summer, the BHYC Cruise Club created countless opportunities for members to embrace the beauty of the Great Lakes, foster friendships, and savor unforgettable experiences. Thanks to our devoted Cruise Committee, each trip was thoughtfully planned to highlight unique destinations and activities while leaving plenty of room for members to explore at their own pace.
2024 Highlights
- June: We began our season with a delightful visit to Elk Rapids, enjoying its picturesque marina and inviting small-town charm. We also cruised over to Mackinac Island and toured the historic Grand Hotel.
- July: Traverse City’s vibrant arts and culinary scenes captivated us during two separate excursions to this bustling destination.
- August: Killarney, Ontario, offered breathtaking scenery and peaceful Canadian hospitality, making it a highlight of the season.
- September: We closed out the season with a trip to Leland, where members explored the historic Fishtown district and indulged in some of Michigan’s finest wines.
Throughout the season, an average of 40 members aboard 14 boats joined the Cruise Club adventures. Each outing was an opportunity to bond with fellow members, celebrate the spirit of exploration, and enjoy the unparalleled beauty of our waters.
Looking Ahead to the 2025 Cruise Club Season
Though boating season is behind us, excitement is already building for the 2025 Cruise Club season. With new destinations and experiences on the horizon, we look forward to welcoming members back to the water next summer. Whether you’re a seasoned boater or just dipping your toes into the world of cruising, there’s always a place for you in the BHYC Cruise Club.
